Marles is a browser extension and web app that answers questions on the page you are viewing, when you explicitly ask it to. This policy explains what data Marles handles, why, and who it is shared with. Marles is operated by Lorun Technologies (“Marles”, “we”, “us”).
The short version
Marles only reads a page’s content when you explicitly trigger it (the keyboard shortcut or the “answer” button). It never reads pages in the background.
To produce an answer, the content you ask about is sent to our servers and to an AI model. That’s the core of the service.
We do not sell your data, show you ads, or track your browsing history.
Information we collect
Account & authentication. When you use Marles you get an account (anonymous by default, or tied to your email address if you sign in). We store a sign-in session token so you don’t have to re-authenticate each time.
Page content you ask about. When you trigger Marles on a page, the visible text of that page — or, when the page has no readable text (for example a scanned worksheet or an image-based PDF), a screenshot of it — is sent to our servers and to our AI provider to generate the answer. This happens only on your explicit action, and only for the page you are viewing at that moment.
Usage. We record a count of the answers you generate to enforce free-tier limits and, for Pro subscribers, to operate billing.
Payment. If you subscribe to Pro, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number.
How we use it
To read the question on the page you ask about and return an answer and explanation.
To keep you signed in and enforce plan limits.
To operate subscriptions and prevent abuse of the service.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers needed to run Marles:
Anthropic — the AI model that generates answers, which receives the page content you ask about.
Supabase — authentication and database.
Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions.
Render — hosting of our servers.
We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties for advertising or any purpose unrelated to answering your questions, and we do not use it for credit or lending decisions.
Data retention
Account and usage records are kept while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see below). Page content sent for an answer is used to generate that answer and is not used to build an advertising profile of you.
Your choices
Marles reads a page only when you ask — if you never trigger it on a page, its content is never sent.
You can uninstall the extension at any time, which stops all page reading.
You can request access to or deletion of your account data by contacting us.
Children
Marles is intended for students and general users. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
